The Psychological Cause Of Dropping Hair

By Eugene Yeng

The psychological impact of dropping hair can hit everyone very hard. It makes no difference if you are male, female old or young, losing your hair can be such a knock to the confidence that even just the thought of it can make the strongest person quake in their shoes.

Did you know that we can lose up to one hundred hairs from our heads every day? We have so many millions of hairs on our heads that a hundred hairs can be lost with no real significance.

We see more of them shedding when we actively wash or brush our hair because firstly, that is when we are more conscious of our hair and our main focus is on our hair. But also, secondly because the action of rubbing or brushing your scalp can make hair fall out slightly sooner, which would have fallen out later that day anyway.

But in some cases, the hair loss can be more severe. In fact in very rare circumstances, people have been known to become totally bald because of sudden onset hair loss, or alopecia. It may be a good idea to get any large amounts of hair loss checked out by your doctor.

It is possible that even this hair loss can be normal and not need to be treated. If the loss of the hair is as a result of a poor lifestyle, or a more stressed than usual event, then hair loss can go hand in hand with the stress. In this case, it is not the hair loss which needs to be treated, but the lifestyle.

It can turn into a self fulfilling prophecy: You notice your hair falling out, so you worry. But because you are worried, more hair falls out, which makes you worried. The psychological impact of hair dropping out can all build up into some sort of terrible cycle. The only way out of this vicious circle seems to be to be bald and not have any hair to worry about!

If hair loss is a real worry, then it often helps to have a good look at every part of your life and see how improvements can be made. It maybe as simple as the fact that certain situations which cause extra stress are causing you to hunch your shoulders which reduces the amount of blood reaching the scalp.

Actively finding time to sit and relax can be difficult in a hard working day, but for the sake of a good, healthy head of hair, it is vital. Another thing which flies out of the window along with our hair when we are stressed is a good balanced diet. This is also an extremely important part of our lives which must be maintained whether we are stressed or not. Staying healthy and keeping yourself fit and active are vital to maintain a luxurious, healthy and happy head of hair.
