I've been asked several times to show how to do this particular hairstyle. After watching the bit of movie in which this hairstyle is showcased about 50 times, here's what I've come up with. It's easier with long hair (in fact long hair is a must for this-either your own or some of those clip in extensions). Either way-hope you enjoy it! Also, my gal had this in her hair all day long and it stayed in--bobby pins and all!

How to do little girl's hairstyles: Amanda Seyfried "Letters to Juliet" Hairstyle Video Tutorial

My last example (for a while) of the off-centered braid and twist. This is the basic beginning that I shared in my first post in this series. (Check out my last two posts).

I begin with the french braid, and the twist on the side, and join them in the back. I used my waver again on the rest of her hair. You could also do some flat iron waves, or corkscrew curls, or just flat iron it straight as well.
This is another cute one for Easter, and gives you great hair to show off some of those great big flowers or bows that match their dresses.

This is it friends......for on Wednesday (at the latest) I'm going in to have my baby girl! I have some posts with videos planned however, until I can get back to doing hair and hopefully being normal again! Have a great week and wish me luck!

Little Girl's Hairstyles: Off centered braid and twist hairstyle no. 3: 15-20 min

Got any big plans for spring break? Ours is coming next week, and it will just be baby land in our house. My girls are so excited to be little mommy's helpers and take care of their baby sister they are about ready to burst. It is so thrilling for me to see their anticipation. :)

Here's the second hairstyle I promised using the off-centered braid and twist idea that I shared in my last post.
Off centered french twist braids:
I split the larger parted off section into two equal parts, and instead of doing a french braid, I did a french twist braid (see my video on how to do french twist braids). I crossed the top twist over the second when bringing it back to the center (or off center) of her head.  I did the same regular twist on the smaller side, like in the previous post, and joined them together.
I used my waver to finish off the rest of her hair and added a big bow.  She's all ready for preschool!
A pretty and fun Easter hairdo to keep in mind!

How did all the St. Paddy's day hairdos turn out? I saw some really cute ones when we were out and about that day. After a playdate on the play place at Carl's Jr., preschool, jumping on the tramp, and then a birthday party that evening, our shamrock hairdos were looking a little sad--but then, what hairdo would still look good after all of that? The gals got to play!

This was a quick hairdo before preschool one day, that I had grand designs for, but an impatient child stopped those before they got too far along. I was still happy with the result, and so was she (since she loves ANY hairstyle that leaves her hair DOWN). And I apologize I don't have a picture from the top down that shows both sides of the french braids, but, again, trying to get her out the door, and keeping her happy at the same time!

I started this french braid hairstyle with an angle part (going from a side part beginning and going diagonal across the top of her head).
I parted off on the larger side, down to her ear, prepping for the first french braid.
I did a french braid a few inches long, secured with an elastic, and parted off my next french braid section, keeping it equal to the first.
I repeated this one more more time, making three mini french braids on this side.
On the opposite side, I did two more mini french braids (I did use a backwards/dutch braids on mine, but do whatever is best for you).
If you have the time and oomph, flat iron or curl the rest of her hair, if needs be. Or just keep her smiling and say, "Hey, we are done!"

Happy Weekend Gals! We are off to dance competitions tomorrow, and more fun home painting projects (the nesting is really kicking in--my wonderful hubby is being kept BUSY!)

Little Girl's Hairstyles: Mini French Braids 10-15 Min

I don't know about the rest of you, but School Picture Day is probably one of my most stressful mornings (pathetic, I know). I stress because:
1: I can't be there to rearrange, comb, spritz anything back into place, and
2: how do I get the hair to STICK, look natural, but not move until it's picture time?
I justify my erratic and tense behavior because, as I tell my girls, "I'm paying for these, so I want them to be PERFECT." So, now that you are feeling sorry for my children, let me share with you some possible ideas, that I think would be SUPERB for picture day.

I really really like my girls' hair down for pictures. I think that if I'm going to do something fancy, it should be visible, and since most of my fancy stuff is in the BACK of the head, it does nothing for their pictures, which I really want to show off their cute little faces. So, here's some of my favorites, with the hair down, that I think we'll be choosing from, since our picture day is tomorrow!
But, I know some of you may want to have the hair up, so I've picked a few faves for you too. They are at the end. Enjoy! Good luck with your morning!

Hair Up
If you wanted to eliminate the top twists, I think a side bun with a flower would be adorable for pictures as well. I'm leaning towards this hairdo myself.....

Little Girl's Hairstyles - How to do hair for School Pics!

This is a variation on two hairstyles that I've shared earlier. First, it's similar to my regular Twisted Laces, and also it's like my Side Puffy Braid.
I don't have step by step pictures, but I did a side puffy braid, but twisted it, making laces, instead of going from 2 to 3 ponytails and back to 2.
I finished the ends with a twist braid.
And did corkscrew curls in the back. I have a corkscrew curls video coming soon!
Enjoy and get ready for some compliments!!!

Little Girl's Hairstyle - Twisted laces in crown 10-15 min

I saw this style on "So You Think You Can Dance" last season, and have been filing it away. This is a great one for your girls who have short hair, since you can modify the twist braid on the side into just another ponytail. Puffy braids are always super for short hair, especially since there's so much variety when doing them. (This also works great for long hair too!)
I started with a side part in the front to the crown, and then combed back the rest of her hair and clipped it off so it wouldn't get pulled in to any of the puffy braids. And of course, her hair is damp!
On the larger side of the part, I made two small ponytails, about an inch wide and deep.
The next section down, I made three ponytail sections, splitting the first two in half and joining them in the middle.
On the next row, I did two ponytails again, making the same size as the first row, and split the middle ponytail again and joined them.
Once I got to this point, I resprayed the hair remaining, prepping it for a twist braid. This is where you can rejoin the two ponytails into just one, if you have shorter hair to work with, or leave it. Do whatever you think looks best according to the hair you have left.
I decided to do a twist braid with the two remaining sections.
I round brushed the back of her hair.
And she's done! Be sure to check back tomorrow! It's my day to be SITS!!! Hurray!!
