My last example (for a while) of the off-centered braid and twist. This is the basic beginning that I shared in my first post in this series. (Check out my last two posts).

I begin with the french braid, and the twist on the side, and join them in the back. I used my waver again on the rest of her hair. You could also do some flat iron waves, or corkscrew curls, or just flat iron it straight as well.
This is another cute one for Easter, and gives you great hair to show off some of those great big flowers or bows that match their dresses.

This is it friends......for on Wednesday (at the latest) I'm going in to have my baby girl! I have some posts with videos planned however, until I can get back to doing hair and hopefully being normal again! Have a great week and wish me luck!

Little Girl's Hairstyles: Off centered braid and twist hairstyle no. 3: 15-20 min

Got any big plans for spring break? Ours is coming next week, and it will just be baby land in our house. My girls are so excited to be little mommy's helpers and take care of their baby sister they are about ready to burst. It is so thrilling for me to see their anticipation. :)

Here's the second hairstyle I promised using the off-centered braid and twist idea that I shared in my last post.
Off centered french twist braids:
I split the larger parted off section into two equal parts, and instead of doing a french braid, I did a french twist braid (see my video on how to do french twist braids). I crossed the top twist over the second when bringing it back to the center (or off center) of her head.  I did the same regular twist on the smaller side, like in the previous post, and joined them together.
I used my waver to finish off the rest of her hair and added a big bow.  She's all ready for preschool!
A pretty and fun Easter hairdo to keep in mind!

Little Girl's Hairstyles: Off-centered french twist braids 15-20 min

Happy Tuesday ladies! Did anyone accomplish anything fantastic over the 3 day weekend? We made a 'start' on our baby's room. I have a love/hate relationship with home projects. I love them when they are done and how they make my house look, but I really detest the finishing of them. Nothing ever gets done in one day, right!?
Well, onto the hair: Since chopping off my older gal's hair, I thought I'd try to just chronicle some of the things we do each day on her new length. I have found it's MUCH easier to do hers, than the mega-lengths of my other daughter's hair (makes cutting it oh so tempting....), and faster!
Here's a cute one we did not too long ago: A simple French Twist Braid right in the middle of her head, and gathered back into a ponytail.

I just parted off the middle section of her hair, from forehead to line behind her ears, combed down the rest of the hair, and did a French Twist Braid. I continued the twist after I stopped gathering up hair from her head, down to the ends, and then combed everything back (with damp hair), into a single ponytail in the back.

Pop in a cute flower, and she's ready for school!
You can try to get your top section a TAD more in the center......but at that hour of the morning, I'm just glad to have her hair IN and DONE. Big kiss, and bye bye!

Little Girl's Hairstyles: Short Hair Do- French Twist Braid into Ponytail 7-10 Min

Sorry for the delay in posting again ladies! Let me just say that it's summer, kids are out of school, and I had to get out of Dodge! (This may happen frequently...)
Here's a return to a favorite of mine: The Figure 8 French Braid. I love incorporationg different braids into favorite hairdos to see how it looks. So instead of the French Braid, I did a French Twist Braid.  I really like how this one turned out. I did a half pulled thru pony at the bottom for a different look too. Give it a whirl!

Little Girl's Hairstyles - Figure 8 French Twist Braid 20-30 min

I've been away! Sorry for the delay in posts. You all know that a mother's life is never a boring one! I've been with my brother and sis. in law, who just welcomed no. 3 into their family, and then my family was away on a little vacation. (No cooking or cleaning for me!)
So, here we are with a little something new. This twist braid has become a new fave of ours. My daughters have been practicing it on their barbies. We hope you like it too!
I began with a center part down to her neckline. And of course....her hair is thoroughly dampened. Keep that spray bottle handy!
I parted off the front side to begin my french braid. I was aiming for a straight line from about her eye level to the back center of her head.

This is where I started my french braid. I usually end up doing the backwards/Dutch braid, since for some reason, my fingers find it easier than the normal french braid.

Bring braid to the center part.
Repeat the french braid on the other side and bring to the same point in back. Secure both together with an elastic. (Does anyone else have the difficulty with getting their text to align left? Every time I do it it kicks me back to my top paragraph! What's the secret you super bloggers? I just get irritated and yell at my computer!)
After making the ponytail out of the french braids in the back, I then begin a few twist braids.
Depending on the thickness of her hair, do 2-4 twists, making up approximately 1/2 of her hair in twist braids.
After making the small twist braids, I divide the hair into two sections, to begin a large twist braid. I divide the small twists evenly and divide the rest of the loose hair evenly, like in this picture.
Then I did a twist braid.
Finished super twist braid!
My main thought in beginning this hairstyle was the french braid to the back, since that's something that could be used on shorter hair as well. I always have to improvise what to do with her length of hair, so hence the super twist braid.

Have you noticed how much I like to braid? Braids are so great for two reasons: They stay in (most of the day), and they keep the hair from getting tangled throughout the day. I get really tired of combing out knots at night, and so do my girls. I also put their hair into a loose braid before bed time to eliminate knots in the mornings.
Have a great day!

Little Girl's Hairstyles - How to do a French Braid with Super Twist Braid 15-20 min

So, I'm always on the lookout for new 'do's, (aren't we all?) and one evening, I happened upon this hair do on one of my very favorite shows of all time: "So You Think You Can Dance". The little gal Mollee had her hair done up like this (or at least it's what I think her hair was like, thank goodness for a DVR, I had to rewind the closeups of her hair several times), and I just thought it was awesome! So I had to try it out. Here's our version of the SYTYCD do! (I have another one coming later--I'm so excited!)
I first parted off a circular shape in the center of head, leaving about 2 inches of hair hanging down around the perimeter of her head, and clipped off the top part.
I then gathered the 'headband' portion, and clipped that off underneath, since I worked with the top section first.
I did 4 twist rolls down this top section. Here's how to do a twist roll: Start with a rectangular small section of hair.
Split it in half.
Knot the two sections one time.
Twist the two sections a few times (this is what helps the roll stay in).
After twisting the sections, knot the two pieces again.
And pull both sides down evenly and tightly. Mine is a tad bit off centered, which I detest, but alas, I can only strive for perfection.
I did this four times down her head, using all the hair that I parted off on top.
Next, I did a french twist braid down each side. As I went, I picked up the pieces from the twist rolls I made, and weaved them into the twist braid.
I also only picked up hair from the bottom, not the top as I went.
I brought it down to the middle of her head and clipped it off so I could do the next side.
You can see here how I picked up the pieces from her twist rolls  a tad bit late as I was going down her head. Try to make the pieces go straight out from the twist rolls into the twist braid, and your twist rolls won't slant to one side like mine.
After I finished both sides, I put in an elastic, and then did a twist braid down her ponytail.
I got this super cute flower from Angela's Accessories.
Well, I hope this inspired you to do some fun hair (or at the very LEAST, get dancing!). I had fun trying to figure it out. If you ever have a picture of a hairdo you want to learn how to do, feel free to send it my way and I'll do my best to figure it out! It's rather ridiculous how much I would love to do it!
