One of you fantastic ladies asked if I could do a video on an updo, and one that could be used at a wedding. Well, I hope this passes wedding muster! I've always been partial to hair piled up top with curls cascading down. Add in a ribbon and some baby's breath, and I think this will be fancy enough to throw out some rose petals!
I want to say a big THANK YOU to my sweet 7 year old too, she filmed this video for me! It was lengthy too (the filming), and she did pretty darn good I think (this will explain some of the bouncy bounce)! Thanks punkin!
AND, I apologize that the video is broken in two parts. You Tube did not like the length of my original, so I had to divide it.

One thing I wished I'd tried for video is this: Hot glue some little silk flowers on bobby pins and pin them around the ponytail up top. Match it to her dress! You can also use wide ribbon or even do 2 ribbons encircling her head.

Happy wedding day! Send us some pics!

Little Girl's Hairstyles- How to do a Twist Braid Updo Video Tutorial

Sorry for the delay in posting again ladies! Let me just say that it's summer, kids are out of school, and I had to get out of Dodge! (This may happen frequently...)
Here's a return to a favorite of mine: The Figure 8 French Braid. I love incorporationg different braids into favorite hairdos to see how it looks. So instead of the French Braid, I did a French Twist Braid.  I really like how this one turned out. I did a half pulled thru pony at the bottom for a different look too. Give it a whirl!

I LOVE Easter! It involves several of my favorite things:
Candy, chocolate candy, fancy dresses, fancy HAIR, and chocolate. So, getting my girlies all fancied up is really something I look forward to. Maybe this year I'll try fancying up MYSELF. Hmm. That's usually just a pipe dream, but as long as I get some candy (with chocolate) I'll be ok.

So here's a fancy hairdo for you moms who are setting aside a bit of time on Sunday just to do some hair!
For this number, part off the hair in four sections. Make a center part to her neck, then one crosswise from ear to ear. Clip off two sections like shown, diagonal from each other. Of course, having the hair damp is my preference here. I figure if you are putting in the time to do this, it should last through the day and still look swell.
Starting at the middle of the front unclipped section of hair, take a small angled portion to begin your french braid. You want to angle the braid to loop away from the part initially, but you'll be angling it back to the part the closer you get to the cross section.
I did an inside out braid, but do whatever is easiest for you. Both will look good. I've done this with a french twist braid as well, and it turned out pretty darn cute too.
This is where you'll want to curve the braid toward the cross parting.
Once you braid in all the hair in that section, braid the hair in a regular braid for a few inches until it reaches the back section.
Start picking up hair again into a french braid, angling it away from the center part again.
Curve it back toward the part when you get closer to her neckline.
Whenever I am joining two braids, like I do with this hairstyle, I like to braid it down an inch or two past her hairline. This helps keep the baby hairs out of the elastic when you do bring them together.
Finish the other side in the same manner, only opposite directions, laying the braid over the top of the other.
Join them together at the bottom, and you are done (well, unless you want to whip out the curling iron and curl that ponytail).

My beautiful bow is from Flowerz In Her Hair.
NOW, here's one of my VERY favorite hairdos of ALL time. This is a variation on the above hairdo, which I learned from Princess Hairstyles. This is from my youngest's birthday party, when it was tres necessaire to have super princess hair. If you are feeling adventurous, try this one out. It was a tad bit challenging, I have to say, but SO worth the effort.
Happy Easter!!

Little Girl's EASTER Hairstyle - Figure 8 French Braid 20-30 min

So, I'm always on the lookout for new 'do's, (aren't we all?) and one evening, I happened upon this hair do on one of my very favorite shows of all time: "So You Think You Can Dance". The little gal Mollee had her hair done up like this (or at least it's what I think her hair was like, thank goodness for a DVR, I had to rewind the closeups of her hair several times), and I just thought it was awesome! So I had to try it out. Here's our version of the SYTYCD do! (I have another one coming later--I'm so excited!)
I first parted off a circular shape in the center of head, leaving about 2 inches of hair hanging down around the perimeter of her head, and clipped off the top part.
I then gathered the 'headband' portion, and clipped that off underneath, since I worked with the top section first.
I did 4 twist rolls down this top section. Here's how to do a twist roll: Start with a rectangular small section of hair.
Split it in half.
Knot the two sections one time.
Twist the two sections a few times (this is what helps the roll stay in).
After twisting the sections, knot the two pieces again.
And pull both sides down evenly and tightly. Mine is a tad bit off centered, which I detest, but alas, I can only strive for perfection.
I did this four times down her head, using all the hair that I parted off on top.
Next, I did a french twist braid down each side. As I went, I picked up the pieces from the twist rolls I made, and weaved them into the twist braid.
I also only picked up hair from the bottom, not the top as I went.
I brought it down to the middle of her head and clipped it off so I could do the next side.
You can see here how I picked up the pieces from her twist rolls  a tad bit late as I was going down her head. Try to make the pieces go straight out from the twist rolls into the twist braid, and your twist rolls won't slant to one side like mine.
After I finished both sides, I put in an elastic, and then did a twist braid down her ponytail.
I got this super cute flower from Angela's Accessories.
Well, I hope this inspired you to do some fun hair (or at the very LEAST, get dancing!). I had fun trying to figure it out. If you ever have a picture of a hairdo you want to learn how to do, feel free to send it my way and I'll do my best to figure it out! It's rather ridiculous how much I would love to do it!

Little Girl's Hairstyles -So You Think You Can....Twist? 20-30 Min

This one was a doozy! BUT I had fun, and that's the point right? After I do something elaborate like this, I feel the urge to go out SOMEWHERE and just show off my little girl, which for us, usually means something exciting like a trip to Walmart. My husband and I thought this one was funny though because the braids on the end of her ponys look like handles....not something to point out to other siblings if you do this 'do on one of your gals!
I started off with WET hair, and parted off the bottom third and pinned up the rest.
I divided the bottom into 4 ponys.
And braided the ponys down as far as I could. The criss-crossing does require a lengthy braid, so if your gal's hair isn't that long, you could skip the crossing and pull them straight up into the ponys.
Next, I zig zag parted the top and back sections of her hair. You could just part it down the middle, or at least just do an angle part up top. After I finished I think I should have parted it straight down the middle in the back. UP TO YOU!
I clipped off one section, and combed the other side up, ready for a pony.
Then I grabbed two braids, choosing alternating braids like so.
Do the same on the other side, weaving your braids. I actually weaved the braids like this before I secured them in the first ponytail, so they wouldn't loosen them after I had them in the elastic.
Prepping next ponytail.
Hopefully you can see how I weaved them here.
Secured in ponytails.
Next I began braiding pony down about halfway, then secured with elastic.
Next I split the remaining hair into two sections, and did two separate braids.
I left long ends on her ponys, to make it look like three separate sections.
These cutie pie bows are from Angela's Accessories. I really love the matching bows, since I do so many hairstyles with two ponys/buns/braids. These were perfect and go with so many different things!
